I Co-Authored a Textbook!

I am beyond proud to announce that I have achieved the bucket list dream of becoming a published author in my field. I, along with several other co-authors and two fantastic main authors & editors, have written a textbook entitled Feminist Intersectional Therapy: Fourth Wave Clinical Applications.

Feminist Intersectional Therapy: Fourth Wave Clinical Applications

Feminist Intersectional Therapy: Fourth Wave Clinical Applications

The goal of this textbook is to discuss what it means to apply fourth wave feminist theory to your clinical practice. Feminist therapy has changed since the foremothers introduced it into our clinical world in the 1970s during the second wave. Fourth wave feminism means including intersectionality - the recognition of the overlap of gender with other identifiers such as race or class. This textbook aims to teach clinicians how to apply concepts of intersectional feminist theory such as transparency, autonomy, empowerment, assertiveness, and more. The personal is political!

You may find my personal contributions in Chapter 8: Feminist Intersectional Therapy and Substance Use and Chapter 15: Feminist Intersectional Therapy: Non-dominant Gender and Affectional Identities.

This textbook is ideal for the graduate student in the fields of psychology, counseling, and social work. Teachers, professors, and supervisors will also highly benefit from the theories and techniques introduced. And it goes without saying that this book is perfect for the already seasoned mental health clinician who is ready to apply techniques to their clients and engage with feminist theory in their practice.

Dr. Joanne Jodry (of Monmouth University) and Dr. Kathleen McCleskey (of Longwood University) are the creators, main authors, and primary editors of this textbook. They generously invited 30 additional co-authors to help create their vision. In true feminist fashion, chapters were collaboratively written, and no one’s voice stands out above another.

This textbook may be purchased directly from the publisher or from Amazon.
